One Delicious Dish: Pork Hash at Raglan Road

February 25, 2015
IMG_2272-3.jpg

Do you see those little squares, the ones on the right of the plate? They're Irish enchantment, going by the playful name Pork Hash Tagged. And they're on the newest breakfast menu at Raglan Road. Take-away: Order the pork hash at Raglan Road. Pork Hash at Raglan Road

Those golden tater bits look like so-so home fries but they're far more. Some of those little cubes are braised pork belly, others fried potato. They're generously jumbled together with scallions and, usually, topped with fried eggs. Here you see them with a battered and fried poached egg. Yes, a battered and fried poached egg--really now! The tempura-style egg is generally served with grilled New York strip steak and breakfast "roasties," which must be spuds.

These breakfast foods and others just debuted at Raglan Road, the Irish restaurant and pub with live entertainment at Downtown Disney.

Raglan Road swapped in menu items for all dayparts, in fact. It also introduced several new cocktails, most of them built around food. Here are some highlights from a recent media preview.

Cod Cornucopia--Pan-roasted cod with warm mustard potato salad and chorizo vinaigrette

Pardon the hopeless photo. This is Harry's Beef Carpaccio--seared tenderloin with watercress, romaine hearts, grape tomatoes, shaved Parmesan, and creamy anchovy vinaigrette

Double Joint--cowboy-cut bone-in rib-eye steak for two with fat chips, roasted veggies, salad, Bernaise sauce, and red wine jus

Proud Pork--grilled pork chop with colcannon potatoes, Cider port jus, and applesauce.

These are those sides--the two types of potatoes, the unbelievably wonderful roasted vegetables, and a really nice salad.

Smoking Margarita with a smoked paprika and sugar rim, and my favoritee, Blueberry Mint Lemonade.

That's a starter for you. Make a visit, maybe during the five-day Mighty St. Patrick's Festival starting Friday, March 13, 2015.

Watch the Irish dancers, take inthe live music, eat, drink and be merry.

Enthusiastically, Rona
