It's a Scream – Boxi Park Halloween

For its first Halloween, Boxi Park is doing what it does best – taking something standard and making it special.

Jell-o “shots” are taken quite literally at Boxi Park Halloween in Orlando. Hanging above are cocktails labeled “Biohazard.” Boy did we have fun.

On select nights through October 31, 2019, the outdoor dining and entertainment complex – built with repurposed shipping containers – goes all out with Halloween theming. Costumed characters are Disney-quality ghoulish, and all are happy to pose for photos. Specialty foods embrace the theme, from pumpkin ice cream with candy corns to a sizzling hot sweet empanada filled with pumpkin cheesecake.

The event is, let’s say, convincing enough to impress jaded adults, yet it’s also family-friendly. Timid kids may shy away from posing for photos with some doomsday dolled-up characters, but they’ll love the pumpkin projections on the ground, the tabletop Jenga games spread around the area and the playground.

And, at the same time, Boxi Park Halloween does what Boxi Park does. Entertainers are up on a stage, shipping container kiosks sell counter-service food that’s way better than you’d think (Michelin-rated chefs helped create all the initial menu items, and they are good), and the athletically inclined play sand volleyball.

Drive over to Lake Nona on Orlando’s eastern edge, grab an on-tap margarita, beer or wine, and start sampling the permanent and themed Halloween foods. Dress nicely, though, because you’ll surely end up taking selfies with those spectacularly spooky ghouls meandering around.

Boxi Park Halloween will be held every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening through Halloween.

Before it melts –

Week 2 – Cinnamon ice cream- Oreo dirt, gummy worms, andburnt marshmallows

Week 1 – Pumpkin ice cream (pictured above) with candied pecans, caramel and candy corn

And, because Rona recommends, after all, two so-delicious sandwiches you must rush to Boxi Park to taste them. They’re available all the time, not just for Halloween, but hurry anyway in case the menu changes. They’re both at the Claw & Order counter.

East Side Lobster – crispy tempura lobster with sweet chili mayo, lime and chives

Herb Lemon Lobster – This one sounded relatively dietetic, since the base is poached lobster. On top are lemon-parsley mayo and lettuce.
