Feel like strumming a guitar while in your hotel room? How about toying around with a DJ mixer? Call the front desk. Hard Rock Hotels encourage guests to let out their inner rockers in the privacy of their guest rooms. With a program called The Sound of Your Stay, employees will zip the tools you'll need to your door. Rock on.
I got a taste of Sound of Your Stay last night at the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando, but you can do it any of the 23 rock 'n' roll-themed lodging facilities around the globe.
I'll be a little glowy here even though I haven't tried the program myself. Disclaimer: I was treated to great food, and got DJ and guitar lessons plus a hotel tour, during last night's media event announcing The Sound of Your Stay program. Still, I am impressed with what I know of the program.
In the video below, you'll see a fellow attendee dancing as she learned to mix.
What's more, I won an intensely terrific acoustic Fender guitar by picking the right pick out of a box of guitar picks. So I may not be my usual objective self. But you know what? People are known to gobble up Snickers and gulp down scotch from hotel room minibars because they feel so free being away from judging eyes. Imagine how that release would play out with musical instruments within the privacy of a hotel room.
Here are the essentials of The Sound of Your Stay.
The Sound of Your Stay: picks®
Each Hard Rock hotel keeps a stash of 20 Fender guitars on hand. I'm mighty pleased with my Paramount Dreadnaught. Other options include Telecasters, basses and Stratocasters. Need juice? A Mustang floor amplifier and Blue Mo-Fi headphones will keep you rockin' without the neighbors knockin'.
The Sound of Your Stay: mix®
This is the DJ portion. You won't get lessons like we did, but take a look at video instructions on the provided iPad while toying with a Native Instrument mixing system. Hard Rock Hotels calls this "the next wave of mixing technology." I'm sure that's true. I'm unqualified to judge.
The Sound of Your Stay: tracks®
This isn't new but that's not a negative. This baseline for The Sound of Your Stay is a free music download and streaming program curated by music industry biggies.
The Sound of Your Stay sounds so nice I'm tempted to book a staycation at the Hard Rock Orlando.
Rock on, readers,
